Methods and sources are their concern. Those are both normal concerns of any intel operation. This situation should not allow them that kind of coverage because these are central to why the memo needs to become public. These are the specific areas where they have violated the trust of the American people and the law.
Methods and sources could be protected while the names are still named.
The sources and methods argument is pure, unadulterated horseshit and I’m getting real tired of seeing/hearing it. I’ve been involved in the intelligence arena for over 40 years now and it’s well-known among those who pay attention to such things that classification of information to protect wrongdoing and criminal acts is strictly prohibited and, in itself, a violation of law. Furthermore, the content of this memo addresses issues and actions that are almost entirely domestic. The only possible (and that’s a big stretch) element of the memo that might touch on sources and methods would regard information on Russian actors and how it was obtained. But then, I don’t think the HPSCI or Judiciary Committees have gotten to the involvement of the Intelligence Community (ODNI and CIA) quite yet.
Their methods were illegal and their sources are the co-conspirators in their crimes. So, NO. RELEASE THE MEMO, UNREDACTED.
Sources and methods are only secret from the American people, everyone else already knows them, because we have more than a few enemies within.
