And then there was Leningrad, a city Stalin always hated. He would have let the Nazis destroy the city if he could.
After the war, he had many of the heroes of Leningrad executed.
And I still believe Stalin let Hitler have his way in the areas of the Soviet Union where the Jews primarily lived, knowing that Hitler would take care of Stalin’s “Jewish Problem.”
People go on about Hitler, and rightfully so. But compared to Stalin, Hitler was a boy scout.

That would explain the fate of Odessa. Odessa had a large Jewish population. Lyudmila Pavlichenko was from Odessa too.
