Newton, MA U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Charles E. Schumer today announced that Congressman Joe Kennedy III will deliver the Democratic response to President Donald Trumps joint address to Congress next week.
From health care to economic justice to civil rights, the Democratic agenda stands in powerful contrast to President Trump's broken promises to American families," said Congressman Kennedy. "Our vision for this union is guided by a simple belief that equality and economic dignity should be afforded to every American. I'm honored to have been chosen by Leader Pelosi and Leader Schumer to deliver our party's response."
Congressman Kennedy is a relentless fighter for working Americans, said Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. While President Trump has consistently broken his promises to the middle class, Congressman Kennedy profoundly understands the challenges facing hard-working men and women across the country. His leadership has been vital in educating a next-generation workforce, in creating good-paying manufacturing jobs and in expanding opportunities for the middle class.
Whether its the repeated attempts to dismantle our health care system, jamming through tax cuts for the largest corporations and the wealthiest or repealing protections for consumers, women and the most vulnerable Americans, President Trumps first year has been marred by his broken promises to the middle class, said Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer. In their responses to the Presidents address, Congressman Kennedy and Virginia Delegate Guzman will both do an excellent job in making clear that Democrats are laser-focused on enacting policies to benefit middle class Americans, not special interests or the wealthiest.
Currently serving his third term, Congressman Joe Kennedy III, 37, has emerged as a powerful voice for social and economic justice. Joe has championed affordable health care, vocational education, a livable minimum wage and American manufacturing. As a member of the influential House Energy & Commerce Committee, Joe has been a leader on issues that range from mental health and addiction to medical research and rising energy costs. His opposition to President Trumps health care plan garnered national attention, as have his efforts to reform this countrys badly broken mental health system. In Congress, he is a leading voice for LGBTQ equality, voting rights, civil rights and immigration reform. Prior to serving in Congress, Joe was an Assistant District Attorney in Massachusetts and a member of the Peace Corps in Latin America. He received his undergraduate degree in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University and his law degree from Harvard. He is married to Lauren Birchfield Kennedy, a health policy expert. They live with their children, Eleanor and James, in Newton, Massachusetts.
I walked the dog and am now watching an old episode of “The Middle. “
I noticed that too. Not sure it was drool though. ;<)
OMG...Dana PeRINO on FNC just highly praised Kennedy’s speech!
Correction to my post. He is son of the myth maker Joseph Kennedy, II who is the son of Robert Kennedy so he was the one who created the false suffix. Not sure why he started with II when the two previous generations had Joe’s which is what I assume he is playing off of.
The Joe on TV tonight would be JFK’s great nephew.
My thoughts exactly. Will the freakin Kennedys EVER just go the F away???
Not my Grand Parents Kennedy;)
Joe Kennedy III is the personification of white privilege.
Yes, the Pip squeek of the Dems. All the fire of Don Knotts, the depth of knowledge of the congressman who worried that Guam might tip over, the latest generation of a dynasty built on bootlegging, murder, and rape. What a choice. Clearly Pelosi knew any rebuttal to Trump was hopeless.
I about choked when she said that. Ive come to expect very little from her, but that one blew me away.
The Kennedys continue to be a tumor in this country.
Following the Trump SOTU speech would be a tough ticket to fill. This Kennedy dithered.
Grandson of anybody-here-seen-my-old-friend Bobby
If that thing is “the future of the party” we don’t have much to worry about....
CN you imagine following one of the great speeches in our entire nation so perfectly delivered capturing the vision of America. And then the dems bring out bafoons like max waters and this stammering idiot.he was horrible. But Trump was magnificent!!
Trumps message was full positive tonight, he also is going to make it safe for Mexicans & Negros to support him in 2020.
I agree that Calif is a lost cause for Trump, but if he continues in the manner of tonight he might win NY in 2020
She’s an airhead.
Joe was drooling
Flopsweat.
