My father’s father, came from Sicily at 18 yrs. old, alone on a ship, in 1909. He never became a citizen either due to not being able to learn the language. He spoke broken English, but mostly Italian..

It’s a different culture and country, cookie.

And all immigration was halted for I think 40 years after the turn of the 20th century to allow assimilation of all the immigrants that came here for several decades.

my in-laws came here in the 1950’s from Italy and became American citizens the right way- taking ND passing the citizens test...

my father in law came with $20 bucks in his pocket and is now worth millions from working 24/7/365...

he HATES illegal immigration...he talks all the time about the documents and paperwork and medical tests and shots he had to get before ever stepping foot in America and watches these felons come here and collect welfare...
