Even if you agree with former federal prosecutor Andy McCarthy that Rosenstein isn’t supervising the Mueller probe as robustly as he should, I’m troubled by the idea of Trump — who reportedly wanted Mueller fired in June — maneuvering to boot his own DOJ appointee.
The only way for the sentence to make sense if you assume that the Mueller investigation is anything other than a witch hunt finangled into position by the deep state for the purpose of opposing President Trump.
Comey has admitted he pushed for the Mueller probe. Mueller is Comey’s mentor. It is likely Comey pushed Rosenstein to appoint Mueller. Rosenstein worked with both of them before. They are far from independent or unbiased.
Mueller, Comey, and Rosenstein are all buddies and co-workers who are neck deep in conflicts of interest in the Mueller probe.
It is bizarre that they should have been put in charge of an “independent” investigation that intersects many of their own past actions.
I think the selection of democratic supporters and partisans for the independent counsel staff has permanently jaded most of into believing Mueller is on a witch hunt and is part of a larger conspiracy.
However, what are we going to say if he wraps it up and says “there is no there there”? That is not out of the realm of possibility because it most closely matches what we know to be true. This was an unnecessary investigation into a fake story based on fraudulent and fake information. To make matters worse - it appears all of this fakery was intentionally done by persons acting in collusion to undermine the Trump candidacy and Presidency.
I don’t know what will happen nor does anyone else around here, but this may be the end result. All of us, me included, have based their opinions on some pretty jaded reporting to include anonymous sourced articles from some rather partisan outlets who had every reason to support a narrative that Trump was interfering in the investigation. On top of this, the whole narrative is now far different then it was when he began and it increasingly looks like his protege’, Comey, is not the victim - he is the perpetrator.
Looking at this in 3D chess - part of this may have been to burn the independent counsel card early in the administration so that one could not be appointed to look into the real collusion and crimes of the previous administration including my tagline........ You have to admit - there will be little appetite for another counsel investigation and they already trapped Sessions into recusal.
