The Constitution is working as intended, placing limits on the power of government.

No, it is not. That's the problem. The Constitution works great when (if) the elected and appointed creatures in government are willing to obey its restrictions. It provides no meaningful enforcement mechanism against elected and appointed officials who conspire to violate it.

This is why we have the current bloated, expensive, expansive, intrusive federal leviathan state. I applaud President Trump's efforts to shrink it, but they do not address the systematic problem.

Hmmmmm. I think you just proved my point. The Constitution is just fine, it's the people who are flawed.

What is needed I guess is a constitution for a corrupt people. I don't think that will go over well as it sounds like an totalitarian, nanny state solution.
