I bought one last year. I've always loved what we call the 'near north'... the area around the Great Lakes that is say north of the 46th in Michigan and Ontario. Hunting, fishing, offroading, boating (in small lakes and big ones) and fantastic summers (once you've figured out how to deal with mosquitoes and blackflies), great people and so much space with sparse population that the peace and quiet is unmatched. Just a few miles from our place, I can boat into a bay that has about one mile of totally isolated pristine beach that only gets visited by me and whoever I take there ....and the odd straggler about once a year who somehow manages to figure out how to get there. I unfortunately have to travel elsewhere on business on a frequent basis but this place is a real jewel that I get back to as fast as I can. My 'winter place' is about 8 hours south and in about another 3 years, it will be about a lot further south. My biggest fear with the place? Folks will eventually figure out what an incredible spot it is and it will be overrun!
