They should point to theft rates for various products, and explain why those products were kept under lock and key. They could say they analyze that decision by sku number, not by reference to the race of those who use it. I am sure Walmart does not keep statistics breaking down product purchases by race.

That is exactly what Walmart does.

My cousin runs a company that does the Meta Data for several large big box retailers. They check the shrinkage rates for products based on SKU numbers and that is why products are locked up. As the loss rate hits a certain percentage, it is unprofitable to carry these products. So instead of eliminating them from the aisles, they lock them up.
