He knew most were following him for free food and miracles. They did not believe in Him.
At this time he had not entered Jerusalem as Messiah. He was in the process of validating His identity to Jews, as the Promised Messiah.
The prohibition against eating blood stands OUTSIDE the Law.
It both pre and post dates it.
It is one of the FOUR commands given to the church at the Council at Jerusalem given by the Holy Spirit Himself.
The prohibition against eating blood has never been rescinded.
