HE had reason to be confident. He didnt put artificial restrictions on the Word of God.
No He didn't....in fact, the Word tells us we can have confidence in our salvation in multiple places.
As Paul said in 2 Thes. 2:15 So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter [fn]from us.
And what were those "traditions"?
The papacy? Nope.
Rome as the final authority? Nope
Praying to Mary? Nope
The Rosary? Nope
Transubstantiation? Nope.
Purgatory? Nope
Priests can't marry? Nope
I could go on, but as you can see all of those were much later developments of Roman Catholicism.....not the NT church.
You have no idea what traditions he taught, because they arent in the Bible. He said so.
Furthermore, you condemn practices because they arent in the Bible, but thats the point! You keep assuming what we disagree on while the Bible itself doesnt even validate the claims you make.
