The percentage of GDP spent by Norway on defense has decreased, despite NATO obligations for member countries to increase spending in the area to two percent by 2024.
The reduction in spending was reported by newspaper VG on Thursday.
Defense minister Frank Bakke-Jensen said in a written response to a parliamentary question that government spending on defense would reach 1.56 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) this year.
It will then fall further to 1.5 percent in 2020 and remain at that level until 2024, according to the report. […]
According to NATO’s own figures, Norway spent 1.59 percent of its GDP on defense in 2017. As such, 2018 will see a reduction in proportional spending according to the figure provided by the government. …

The US stationed troops in Norway a couple of years ago. Why would these countries pay to defend themselves when the US government is so insistent on doing it for them?

Norway has reversed course on immigrants. They deport the problem ones and the illegals. They do not have nearly the problems their Swedish neighbors have.
The norwegans are spending too much money on salted fish, reindeer meet and saunas. Then, too, they have allowed their country to be invaded by moozlum savages. That costs a pretty penny. What a joke of a country.
The truth is, none of NATO faces even the slightest foreign threat, so they don’t spend the money on it.
NATO is an expansionist and aggressive entity. They are importing an islamic invasion that is raping, shooting, and exploding grenades in the streets.....and NATO is living in 1982, waiting for the USSR to pour in through the Fulda gap.
It would be like France still prepping for a weremacht nazi invasion in 1972.
