“.....then get to the hospital”.
I agree, but I have heard horror stories about Emergency Rooms packed with sick people. It’s a very bad situation.
I had to take my 95 year old mother to the ER last Sunday. 7 hours to see a doctor. It was packed with the flu. I put on a mask in the parking lot and kept it on the whole time. People were so sick and it was so crowded they were triaging.

Get a box of medical face masks and wear them in situations like this.
Flu germs can live 24 hours, and can be on anything.
Wash your hands frequently- and keep them away from your face
Like "out of the frying pan...?"
The urgent care type clinics are really awesome and normally run pretty efficiently.
The ER is not where you want to hang out these days. But if you have flu syntoms do this: Most hospitals have hand sanitizers available at most front doors. Most have face masks that you can wear.
SMART people working near these areas of the hospital are santizing their hands every time they enter or leave a room. And they are wearing their masks—even if they got a vaccination.
This strain is virulent to the elderly and the young. Keep your hands clean and away from your face, and the chances of a heathy person getting it are pretty slim.
