This makes no sense. A tariff is a tax. If the government is going to put a tax on your product, the government is making the price go up. What the manufacturer should do is lower the price of the product. That way the tax when added will not make the price as high as it would’ve been without the lower price being implemented.

The Tariff is because the South Korean government subsidizes LG (and Samsung) so they can sell their washers way below the price of American made washers like Whirlpool, Maytag, etc.
This could force the American companies out of business, then LG & Samsung fully own the market and can charge whatever prices they want.

The South Korean government did this with LG & Samsung TV’s, knocking out all of the Japanese TV makers out of business, just like the Japanese did this in the 1980’s and knocked out all American made TV’s like RCA, Magnavox, Philips, etc.
