The president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni declared his "love" for President Donald Trump. This came after Trump was accused of referring to African nations as "shithole" countries during a meeting with members of Congress about immigration policy. Trump denied making the remarks, but the African Union demanded that he apologize for his "clearly racist" comments.
"America has got one of the best presidents ever," Museveni said during the opening of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) in the Ugandan capital of Kampala. "I love Trump because he tells Africans frankly. The Africans need to solve their problems, the Africans are weak."
Museveni's comments are in opposition to those expressed by many African leaders who have condemned Trump's alleged insult. Deborah Malac, the American ambassador to Uganda, also condemned Trumps alleged remarks. Just hours before the Ugandan leader praised Trump, Malac said of Trump: "[His words] are obviously quite disturbing and upsetting." Malac was nominated to her current ambassadorship by Barack Obama in 2015.
To respond to my own post, it was sexist for me to assume that person to be a man. I think (?). Not sure.
I love President Museveni because he tells it like it is:
“The Africans need to solve their problems, the Africans are weak.”
“I love Trump because he tells Africans frankly. The Africans need to solve their problems, the Africans are weak.” Yoweri Museveni
Way back in the 1980’s Museveni said, “We’ve got to stop blaming colonialism for all our problems. Uganda has been independent for 25 years! We still can’t make sewing pins for my wife to buy in the market. Why do the UK, Europe, Canada & the US have to send us food aid? I’ve lived in Europe - sometimes they have snow on the ground for 6 months of the year. We can grow three crops a year and they send us food?”
Mr. Coe noticed you remark... /smile
Wut.
Brilliant! Not only was Uganda independent for 25 years back then, but there had been no destructive war for independence - what the British had built they left intact. At this point Africans who want to really make a go of it, and get off the “foreign aid” welfare teat, are completely ignored by the media. It doesn’t fit the “white devil oppressor” stereotype. That is also why murderous dictators there (Obote, Amin, etc.) are ignored.
