Good question. First indication to me that he was a swamp creature is that his nomination sailed through the confirmation. Someone here said he was Chris Christie’s lawyer for Bridgegate, and was recommended by Christie. If so, another screwup by Christie.
The same question would apply to a whole slew of Trump appointees.
