Widespread corruption and never ending scandals in Brazil seem to be turning that lush and large country into another Venezuela which has resulted in turmoil, pain and political chaos. Unquestionably Brazils current woes can be traced back to Lula and his regime of hate and socialism. Lula has paved the way for the corruption to a level to unseen in modern history anywhere on the planet. I was surprised, dismayed, and in total shock when I found out that the leaders of the Democratic Party have sided with Lula to save him from prison, siding with a person who is no more than a common criminal, unethical, and despicable leader. Has the Democratic Party decided to go international in the name of their leftist ideology?

U have probably heard this many a time here on the Freeper thread but South of the Rio Grande it is one big S___hole. President Trump was very correct if he used this language but we all understood it clearly.
These countries south of the Rio Grande have not been able to get their act together for a long long time. I have heard that a lot of folks are not going to Mexico anymore along the border. There is rampant corruption among the police force. There governments are so corrupt that we can write a book on this subject.
The military wing of their governments are corrupt. Gangs are rampant with a lot of drug trafficking.
There is no middle class in these oountries it is run by a very few elites and a majority of the folks are poor. There are hardly any jobs because of all the corruption. Even the Mexican illegals get into this country to find jobs since there are hardly any jobs in Mexico.
This is the main reason President Trump won the election against Crooked Miss Hillary since he was the only one that proposed a solid two walls with a road in between from San Diego, California to El Paso, Texas. There is hardly any wall existing except a 4 foot fence that ranchers put up to keep the illegals out of their ranches. This is exactly how it is right now in between El Paso all the way to San Diego. We need solid walls right now!!!
We will not require any walls just enforcement along "Big Bend" National Park since the canyon walls make it very difficult but we still need some enforcement where there are no walls in Texas and then it is a solid wall using the existing levee road in between the walls to Brownsville, Texas.
I know you mentioned the Third World Country of Brazil but it is all the same south of the Rio Grande right now. The Rat party keeps on supporting these folks since they need the voters!!! Believe me when I say we have a lot of illegals from Brazil in this country right now.
The Rat party has become one big Communist/Socialist party. The Rat party does not even understand the word Democracy.

"We will not require any walls just enforcement along "Big Bend" National Park since the canyon walls make it very difficult"
Better than a 30 foot wall:

Wall off the whole Southern Rio Grande Valley (400 miles from the Gulf to well North of Laredo), California border (150), a hundred miles around El Paso, and a hundred miles South of Tucson - 750 miles total - and the situation is fundamentally transformed. Trump is looking for 900-1,000 miles, which is more thorough.
Start in the high traffic areas (which is explicitly their plan), and the first 200 miles will make an awesome impact.
DHS is looking at building at a 6 mile per month pace if their dream budget is funded, which no doubt they see as a stretch to manage. If they could double that, Trump could get 800-900 miles built over two terms - a solid job.

The Soviet Union tried to prevent the precedent of Communism ever being rolled back, by invading Afghanistan.
Corrupt Leftist politicians fear the precedent of any of them ever being held accountable, and brought to justice.
Who might be next? Kirchner in Argentina? Clinton in the USA?

In 2015, Brazil had a murder rate of 25.2 per 100,000 population. There were a total of 50,108 murders in Brazil in 2015. Another study has the 2015 murder rate at 32.4 per 100,000, with 64,357 homicides.
Both studies were grossly inadequate.

There’s a simple explanation for this. Lula is just one guy of many Latin American and Spanish liberal/socialist politicians who took money from an international construction company. By extension, US Dims are probably concerned about their own jail time for the same reason.

Partner, those canyon walls along "Big Bend" National park are really just a work of beauty in my book. Thanks for the pictures and the memories that we have of this area. We definitely do not need to build any walls here in this area.
We do need to build two walls in Texas from Brownsville all the way to or close to Big Bend National Park and then we will need another wall from north of Big Bend to El Paso. There is a levee road from El Paso all the way to Brownsville that exists already except for the Big Bend area so we can take advantage of this levee road to build the 2 walls and our Border Patrol can have a way to apprehend and arrest the Illegals and the wall must have exits on our side for our Border Patrol officers. Also, we need to build a levee road along the Rio Grande if the levee does not exist since it is a safety issue for Americans that live on our side of the river.
We will need to build a continuous wall from west of El Paso, Texas all the way to San Diego. There are parts of this territory where we do not even have any fencing whatsoever.
We know there are Mexican Illegals, Guatamalan Illegals, El Salvadoran Illegals, Honduran Illegals and other Illegals from the S___Hole Countries down south and South America and also from Africa and the Middle East since the corrupt Mexican Government officials will not spend a dime to help us with these illegals. I say Enough is Enough of these Illegals.
President Trump was correct in pointing this out that there are many methods on how the corrupt Mexican government will pay for this wall.
We do not know how many miles of walls we need to construct but it has to cover those areas mentioned above.
I-10 from Las Cruces, N.M. all the way to Tucson, Arizona is where these Illegals come thru a lot since I have seen them with my own eyes on the Rest Stops on I-10. Of couse there is no fencing along the New Mexican border with Mexico.
The Border Patrol officers would have been called and these illegals would have been arrested had it not been for President Lyndon Baines Johnson.

Partner, you can say good bye to President Trump!!!
President Trump is a "Builder" so we may as well take advantage of his capabilities and how to negotiate a good deal with the building of this wall.
Please don't tell us that u r in favor of having all these illegals in our country!!!
To: TheConservativeTejano; Thibodeaux
Texas definitely needs some wall - parts are overrun by illegals, where crossing the border is not much harder than crossing a street. The least diverse city in the United States is Laredo, TX - almost entirely Mexican.
When San Diego put in a decent barrier, real estate next to the border that had been run down or wasteland, shot up in value. The area has transformed and prospered since it was protected. Crime plummeted, as did many health issues.
There are places between El Paso and San Diego that are pretty rough to cross. Western Arizona (as Thibodeaux points out) around Yuma is some lethal rolling dune desert with no cover from air observation (Yuma itself however has been a high traffic route).
Even in reasonably rough areas of Eastern Arizona though (as TheConservativeTejano noted), the flow is pretty strong - a good number of people kill themselves trying to walk long distances, and people who live in rural areas there face a real risk from all the migrants appearing at all hours looking for water, food, or in some cases to rob or worse. If we can have strong barriers at the border, those rural areas could realize some of the same security benefits as urban areas.
There is huge value in getting good barriers up in the urbanized areas, but reduced flows will continue diverting to tougher and tougher rural areas, until the difficulty/chance of death just gets too high. We can keep productively building wall for many years to come.
Border Patrol definitely wants what you propose - double barriers with a patrol road and "enforcement zone (exclusion area) between the barriers for sensors, cameras, lights and such.

Based on what has been released about the planned phases for border barrier, and what is actually being done, a few spots seem getting ready to build.
1. Rio Grande Valley is Phase One priority number one (although among the hardest). First up: McAllen, East of the big Port of Entry, in the Santa Ana Reserve. The Corps of Engineers contracted for the design phase for segments there last Summer, and folks have been in there clearing vegetation.
The Rio Grande Valley Sector has seen the most activity in preparing the right of way with property owners (long the toughest issue), with notifications, offers, condemnations and exercise of eminent domain.
2. San Diego Sector is always cited at the top of the priority list (Phase One). I don't know specifically where, but San Diego itself could get some improvements. Calexico/Mexicali also gets mentioned a lot.
3. El Paso Sector is also in Phase One of the formal plan, (Phase One accounts for the first 100-200 miles of new barrier). DHS just announced that they are exercising their waiver power for about thirty environmental and other restrictions, for 20 miles worth of border segments West from El Paso, including the Santa Teresa Border Crossing.
Looking at the total project, it seems to me that things have been on track to start this Spring, and that they are now pretty much just waiting on the funding. Trump is supposed to visit the prototypes after the State of Union Address. I think it was to be the "ribbon-cutting" announcement for kicking off the construction phase. The budget standoff might delay his visit (may even be timed to rain on his victory lap), but I am pretty confident that Trump can squeeze out enough budget to at least get started building this Spring.

my primary objection is building a wall in Texas thus ceding the Rio
grande river to Mexico
It there is to be a wall, it should be on conquered territory on the Mexican side of the river. We must not cede the river to Mexico

Partner, the only territory that we have ceded to that Corrupt Government of Mexico is when the river changed course favoring the U.S. since we did not have a levee road and that is in present day El Paso.
The levee road will keep the river from going into homes along the river when we have record snowfalls in Colorado and New Mexico.
This will prevent us from ceding any more territory to the corrupt government of Mexico.
The photo shot from BeauBo shows exactly what we need to do with the two (2) walls with the levee road being in the center of the two (2) walls.
Let's just put it this way. President Trump knows exactly why he was elected as our POTUS after the horrendous performance of that American Hating Piece of Work Mooselimb Obama as the POTUS.
President Trump is a builder which we have never ever had as our POTUS. He understands that if the Wall is not built then he is toast and btw, we are toast also.
There will be a lot of Rats in favor of this wall since they know now we are going to have to freeze legal immigration since we have so many Illegal Aliens in this country right now plus the amount of Illegal Drugs is a very serious affair right now since it is shattering American families.
Right now, the Drug Gang Cartels in corrupt Mexico are operating without any problems from the local authorities. These Drug Cartels know it so now to make more $$$ they are in the Illegal Alien business bringing folks to the border so they can cross into the U.S. W. and the America Hating Obama never bothered to even stop this flow of Illegal Aliens.
It really has been more than 50 years of Illegal Aliens streaming across our Southern Border and also Tons of Illegal Drugs flowing without any resistance from our guys.
The Flow and unfettered access to Illegal Drugs from these Drug Cartels operating in corrupt Mexico are shattering the lives of American Families!!!
Enough is Enough!!!
To: BeauBo
BTW, thanks so much for that photo of the Border Wall.
This picture show exactly what we need on our Southern Border. I agree with ya that New Mexico, Arizona, and California is tough territory yet so many illegals go thru these areas. Even American folks who want to help these illegals are putting up water stations since it takes a lot of water to cross these arid places. Also, we need to come to the realization that the Drug Cartels (They have expanded their business model) are getting more $$$ by driving the Illegal Aliens to our southern border.
Right now we do not have any fencing at all along the New Mexico border, Arizona border, and some in the California border which I agree with ya we need to beef up or put in new border walls close to San Diego.
The No. 1 priority of our POTUS is to keep Americans safe and it is called out in our Constitution. The Rat party in Congress is playing with fire right now on taking away the military salaries of our young men and women who are defending our country.
I will have to say unfortunately that most countries south of southern border are a bunch of corrupt S___hole countries. I think the only semi-prosperous country is Chile in South America. BTW, this is not a good batting average.

...cedeing the Rio Grande to Mexico.
That is a big part of the difficulty in securing the Texas border. Ranchers and farmers need access to the water. People want to fish and boat. Also, as TheConservativeTejano points out, the river can change course if not controlled, and seasonal flooding expands the land area even more.
Of course, there is no intent to cede legal jurisdiction over the American side of the river to Mexico, but an impassable barrier would de facto cut it off to Americans, and leave it to Mexicans to use.
Mitigation strategies have been planned for these concerns. As the Government contacts land owners, and issues are identified, specific mitigation is agreed upon, such as gates that a landowner can operate with a code, and conduits to bring water in for ranchers and farmers. River access border control points can be built in urban areas for recreational use. Border Patrol units that patrol the river would continue to do so, and enforce jurisdiction on the US banks.
The prototyping phase for the border wall, assessed different types of border barrier, which can be suitable in different locations (urban/rural, desert/mountain/flood plain). Near the river in Texas, heavy concrete walls with deep footings can do double duty as levee walls for flood control, either made taller or topped with bollards to deter climbers. In some cases, you might even be able to reclaim some floodplain for use, with a big levee-style border wall (I don't think that is the intent however).
One of the vendors who produced the recent border wall prototypes, Fisher Sand and Gravel, says that they are already ready to adapt their design (massive cast in place concrete wall) for double duty as levee wall. They also claim that their cast in place technique is feasible in steep mountainous terrain, where cranes cannot operate to emplace precast panels.
Here is their design, a unitary concrete structure, 30 inches thick at the base, that could likely stand against the elements for centuries without maintenance:

In most places, the Border Patrol prefers see-through bollards to maintain observation of threats approaching the barrier, and because they are easier/quicker to repair when they are breached. Although the evaluation report explicitly said that features of the prototypes should be mixed to suit the specific location, the one which was considered the single best design, was the Caddell Construction design of see-through bollards, topped with smooth concrete anti-climb wall:

TheConservativeTejano: That diagram which I posted of the double barrier with enforcement zone is from the Border Patrol itself, which they briefed to the press.

Partner, these are great pics of the Border Wall. If I am not mistaken I think that the State of Texas sued the State of New Mexico for access to more water from the Rio Grande down in Texas.
I am pretty sure that the State of New Mexico put in more choke points on the Rio Grande so that it would hurt Texas ranchers and Texas farmers.
Texas won the suit and more water from the snow melt will be flowing into Texas so we need the Levee road even more now since we could have flooding without the levee road.
Also, I think it was W. that gave Mexico the right to more water access from the Rio Grande. Wasn't W. generous and special!
