In my Republican voting county I have several times asked large groups in line at the store, “Who is watching the big game today?”. Seldom does anyone speak up, but when they do it is someone telling a story about how they can’t support the game anymore. The stores are full of gear at half price for the local team, and have been for 4 months. Cashiers at the stores no longer wear the team colors on Fridays as is traditional. The NFL is in its death throes, they just don’t know it yet.
When they prove that a certain Saints player took a dive to make some money for a New Orleans gambler, it will be the spike that is driven into the heart of the professional league. I didn’t have to watch the game to know this, just look at it online.
