I don't know about the claim about 80%. But Iran brought in thousands of Hazara’s from their refugee camps near Afghanistan. Obviously, way more than 20% of the pro-government forces are Syrians.

The Afghan fighters trained by Iran were terrible BTW, even by the standards of Muslim irregulars.
