It was magnificent.
(Birth year of the modern state: 708)
This looks like a good thread to add that...
The progression from 49 to 50 has, as its precedent, the stepping stone from 7 to 8. The soul is likened to the 7th center of holiness within the body that sanctifies the 6 directions of the physical world toward spiritual pursuits. Through this process, the soul is able to elevate itself, and the body with it, toward perfection. In number terms, the 7 is elevated beyond to reach 8, which is synonymous with entry onto the higher transcendental plane. And the arrival at 50 similarly marks the entry into this exalted state.
A Passage to Sinai
Perhaps the count toward the number 50 finds its most well-known historic expression in the Exodus and its aftermath. exodus: 50
>>>
The historic event of the Exodus is mentioned in the Torah a total of 50 times. And the redemption process which started on the first day of Pesach finally reached its completion stage 50 days later at Sinai. Indeed, God freed the Children of Israel in order that they accept the Torah. The Divine instruction given to Moshe at the burning bush was to lead Israel out of Egypt and bring the nation to serve God at that mountain. shavuot: day 50
>>>
The 7 weekly cycles of 7 days lasting until the 50th day, Shavuot, has its obvious parallel to the 7 Shemittah, Sabbatical cycles of 7 years that culminate in the 50th year, Yovel, Jubilee Year. Yovel marked the cumulative conclusion of an epoch. Everything that had occurred previously even something termed as lasting lolam, forever comes to an end. The slate is wiped clean. It returns to its original pristine state to enable the process to begin anew.
Shemittah is classified both as holy, and as Shabbos; Yovel is Holy of Holies, and Shabbos of Shabbosos.
The yovel within*:
Ex 3.2. And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire (אליו בלבת-אש) out of the midst of a bush (סנה); and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed:
*to put this occurrance into perspective, there are 36 instances in the Tanakh of the letter string yud-vav-bet-lamed (forward only). This is the second place. The first is the name Jubal, and the third is the initial appearance of the word yovel, jubilee (Lev 25.10).
The Burning Bush as the first Beis HaMikdash:
Rabbi Mendel Kessin
The Presence Of God In Creation (min 17:00-24:00)
And in connection with the above video excerpt, he also describes the neshama as the Beis HaMikdash within, which can never be consumed.

In the midst of the bush, literally in the Hebrew letters (סנה):
nun - 50; nun - neshamah
Or in the English:
b-US-h
The US, or the neshama within us/US.
A fun detail with the construct state of feminine nouns, is that the last letter hei switches to a tav. Meaning, the value of that word is increased by 395. Thus in the case of the neshama, the smichut form adds the value of the neshama itself: 395 (minus 5, plus 400). Besides, numerically the neshama is Mashiach (358) + Yechida (37), which is Moshe (345) + 50. Nothing new there, because of the five levels of the soul, the Mashiach corresponds to the yechida and Moses to the neshamah.
ha-smichut (הסמיכות) = 541
Smichut comes from samach, support. The "supporting" state - the state of Israel (541) - is the Holy Land ("take your shoes off").

And speaking of hearts,
The reflection of yovel is levo yud, "his heart is a yud", i.e. the pintele Yid:
The pintele yid is described as that tiny part of Jew that never quits - the little spark of Jewishness that is indestructible.
It's a shame that few find any of this the slightest bit interesting. Oh well, no crowds.
