I knew a man who worked on a road crew patching highway potholes during college summers.
He said when they weren’t on their assortment of coffee breaks, they would patch a few holes here and there.
Then they would dump an entire load of asphalt in the woods so they were “forced” to return to the asphalt depot to obtain more.
They would then fill a few more holes, dump the rest in the woods again, and finish for the day.
He was told to keep his mouth shut if he didn’t wish to incur unexpected repair costs to his car.
