OMG, I can't wait that long. That stretch of road is the biggest roadblock on the east coast. You're lucky to go 5 mph through there, for miles and miles and miles.

A second bridge over the Potomac upriver from Gaithersburg to Dulles Airport would take a lot of traffic off of the DC beltway and the American Legion Bridge. Wealthy, influential folks live in the areas close to the river so it will never happen.

Also the inter-county connector should have been on the same arc as the beltway making it the preferred route across the county, especially to BWI. Instead it goes from NW to SE, due to a developer with a huge amount of land at the SE end.
