The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that Tnuza J. Hassan, 19, told police that she wanted the school to burn to the ground and that her intent was to hurt people, according to the complaint charging her that was filed in Ramsey County District Court.
Hassan said she started the fires because shes been reading about the U.S. military destroying schools in Iraq and Afghanistan and she felt that she should do exactly the same thing, the complaint read.
On Wednesday, Jan. 17, Hassan set eight fires in seven locations on the campus of the Catholic university she previously attended, according to university and fire officials.
Police have obtained surveillance video of the woman, who dropped out of St. Catherine during the fall semester, setting fires in various locations between 11:40 a.m. and 2 p.m.
