“Investigators in both House and Senate were stunned late Friday when, receiving a batch of newly-released texts between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, they also received notice from the bureau that the FBI “failed to preserve” Strzok-Page messages from December 14, 2016 through May 17, 2017.”

That the FBI failed to preserve them does not necessarily mean that copies have not been preserved by others, namely the OIG.

I couldn’t find a specific person, but let’s just hope that whether this was accidental or a deliberate attempt to destroy evidence, it doesn’t make any difference.

OIG Horowitz’ team has gone through 1.2 million documents and it was their release of the Stzok-Page texts to begin with, so it’s hard to imagine after seeing what they saw, they didn’t ask for all of them last summer.
