Having been born during the Great Depression, I guess I was raised to never depend on the gov. for anything. My advice for all is to spend your working years planning for your old age. Buy and pay for a house. Learn how to invest and put some in an interest bearing savings acct. Invest in Gold & Silver and take physical control of it. Think ahead to what your children might need to bury you. Pay for it now. Save save save (quietly).
My grandparents lived through the Great Depression and held the opposite view because of it. They didn’t trust banks or business but did trust the government and were life long democrats. My grandpa would always say that without FDR this country probably would have gone communist. Their the reason I was a democrat early in my life, and why I have a distrust of banks and big business, the distrust of government I learned on my own.
