The man accused of assaulting Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul at his Bowling Green home last November has agreed to plead guilty, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Indiana announced Friday.

Rene A. Boucher, 58, was charged with assaulting a member of congress resulting in personal injury after he tackled Paul on Nov. 3. Boucher told federal investigators that he and Paul had been neighbors for years, and the he’d “had enough” after seeing Paul stacking brush onto a pile near his property.

The guy who attacked Paul was not “standing his ground.”
He was on Paul’s ground.
And while his attny wants to push the story it was over that day’s lawn clippings, it is unlikely... as they haven’t spoken in 10 yrs... and whatever Paul’s habits are with disposing of leaves and twigs he’s probably been doing it the same way every other week since he bought the place, without being tackled.
Something else triggered the neighbor... most likely something in the newspaper or news app he read that morning.

21 months for what was actually attempted murder.
10 years and 250k is what he deserves.
Rand is looking OK on TV lately.
He needs to get a civil action going on that crazy libtard.
If someone broke 5 of my ribs, they’d be in heap big trouble. And I mean money, and lots of it.
I’ve broken 3 before, and 14 years later they still hurt.
Rand will be feeling the effects of those ribs the rest of his life.

The perp should have been required to sell the house and move more than 10 miles away in addition to the prison time and fine and this is before the civil case awards a million dollar settlement to Rand.

Rand might want to use some of that money to hire someone to keep a covert eye on the perp after he gets out of prison. He sounds like the type to go looking for justice. If so; it would be great to see the guy taken out permanently by a covert body guard. Oops. I guess that neck punch was just a little too hard... Oh well. Justice served.

Boucher is a democrat, an anesthesiologist, and, at the risk of being redundant, a nutcase. A cursory perusal of the facts of the case, and Boucher's background, confirm this conclusion.

Bonus question: what is the incidence of criminal insanity among anesthesiologists?
