Democrats insist they don't want the government to shut down this weekend, but their votes don't back up their claims. On Thursday, the House passed a short term spending bill to keep the government funded. Only five Democrats voted yes. It needs 60 votes to pass the Senate, but plenty of Democratic senators have indicated they'll vote against any measure that simply "kicks the can down the road."
CNN anchors - yes CNN - are calling them out on their hypocrisy.
Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) was pressed about why he voted against the measure. He says he voted against a continuing resolution, not to shut down the government. But, that's not how CNN's Erin Burnett saw it.
Oh man. Another instant classic.
DEM: “No, I’m not ok with the government closing.”
CNN: “But you just voted—“

Burnett had similar questions for Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA).
Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) later joined Chris Cuomo to tell him that Mitch McConnell had planned to use this vote as political theater "from the get go."
He said he'll be voting against cloture, which puzzled Cuomo.
"Just to make it clear to the audience - you voted yes to proceed because you want to debate this bill - that's what that bill means," Cuomo said. "But you're saying you're going to vote no against it but you're saying you hope the government doesn't shut down...why would you vote no if you don't want the government to shut down?"
House Speaker Paul Ryan has accused Democrats of holding the military hostage over immigration. He and other Republican leaders insist they can still work out a deal on DACA before the March deadline.
Should the government close, the Republican National Committee has already given it a name: the Schumer Shutdown.
I still believe there is a political component to the timing of this DACA vote. RATs want a vote now, because any fellow RAT that votes against DACA amnesty could get primaried. But filing deadlines for candidates are Mar/Apr - if a vote gets delayed, There is the potential Red State RATs could Support a DACA bill with real Security/end to chain migration - it would be too late then for someone to Primary them.

If they are voting against cloture they are saying that this bill needs more debate. In that case then debate it. Hold the floor and debate it. I want to turn on CSpan at 4am Sunday morning and see Chuck Schumer speaking. I want them debating on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and so on. I want that debate on 24/7. No more post card filibusters. I want to see them drop from exhaustion.

I was so glad this phrase was thrown out there many times during the press conferences today. Mick Mulvaney was excellent. Finally!! I get the feeling that we’re starting to fight like “they” do — on the offensive instead of defensive.

Parents are desperate to save their children who are in danger. How heartless can the Democrats be!”
To all Democrats, If CNN is questioning your decision to vote to shut down the government, they are trying to help you avoid a train wreck.
I think what we are seeing is that the media
is beginning to realize that there has been a change
in the polis and that the dems are no longer on the
side of history. The democrat party has had it’s way
for so long and during a time when the media was
small and aligned with it and now there are other
sources of information.
The people, the polis, are not falling for the same old
line, when the reality is staring them in the face.
How it must gall the elite media to come to this realization.
How it must frighten the dem leadership!
This is why we see this frantic attempt to
throw everything and anything against their opposition,
to the point that they had no qualms about subverting
the levers of government. Being so insulated, they
could not imagine a situation where they would lose
the election.
The Republicans finally got their messaging right today following Trump’s lead twittering that Dems are shutting down the government to protect illegal aliens and calling it the Schumer shutdown and saying that is why we need more republicans in Congress come November. Bottom line virtually all Republicans are voting for the CR to keep govt open and virtually all dems are voting to shut er down. Republicans need to keep repeating this messaging.Dems are in the defensive to the point that they cannot use a govt shutdown to save DACA.
Trump has maneuvered them into a box its quite amazing to see how deft he been in regards to this rather delicate issue.
There is not much difference and they are moving toward more violence.

Today, Rush was saying Mulvaney told him that he’s a “Rush Baby”. He and his dad listened to Rush together since he was very young. So he’s got a good foundation.
And these are supposed to be the best people in the country to govern us? They are nothing more than spoiled brats throwing a tantrum to get their way.
