True. And from friends of mine that were Marines and did Embassy rotations, the US Diplomatic Corps is no stranger to taking advantage of that policy.

Diplomatic immunity is a status granted to diplomatic personnel that exempts them from the laws of a foreign jurisdiction

But.....

That’s exactly what it is, a policy. They can prosecute whoever they want, but they don’t because it’ll make it impossible for the US to do their business overseas, otherwise. It’s no different than people saying that an embassy or consulate are, sovereign land of the country. At any given time, the host nation can kick out every single person in that embassy and take it. And there isn’t a darn thing anyone can do.

It’s a form of, detente, that makes sure their guy isn’t detained or jailed, because we don’t want our guy detained or jailed.

2014 .... Diplomats owed NYC, $16,000,000.00 for unpaid parking tickets.

we did 3 tours on embassy guard duties, and the US diplomats just suck out loud. What arrogant, entitled people and talk about “the rules” don’t apply to them!
