WASHINGTON -- The FBI is investigating whether a top Russian banker with ties to the Kremlin illegally funneled money to the National Rifle Association to help Donald Trump win the presidency, two sources familiar with the matter have told McClatchy.
FBI counterintelligence investigators have focused on the activities of Alexander Torshin, the deputy governor of Russia’s central bank who is known for his close relationships with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and the NRA, the sources said.
It is illegal to use foreign money to influence federal elections.
It’s unclear how long the Torshin inquiry has been ongoing, but the news comes as Justice Department Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s sweeping investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election, including whether the Kremlin colluded with Trump’s campaign, has been heating up.
All of the sources spoke on condition of anonymity because Mueller’s investigation is confidential and mostly involves classified information.
A spokesman for Mueller’s office declined comment.

Hey, I studied Russian for 2-1/2 years, visited the Russian embassy as a grad student in DC, even did business with TASS reporters in the 80s, received direct-from-Russia vodka from them, uh oh, and I’m a life member of NRA. Maybe I get a pass because I haven’t been to Russia? Then again, I’ve been to China, Vietnam, Pakistan, and California.

The FBI is a corrupt political formation now. Nobody should ever speak to them for any reason.
It was started in the progressive era. Massively expanded by Woodrow Wilson, run by a homosexual for 5 decades, has made full use of blackmail and illegal surveillance. Post 9/11 they have trained agents that they can bend or break the law as needed for anti-terror. They now see themselves as a policy making branch of government, and think they do not answer to Congress or the presidency. They have attacked numerous police departments around the nation.
And now, they tried to rig an election in favor of their candidate.
They must be disbanded.
