Lindsey Graham, the Arlen Specter of the South, has been trying to ingratiate himself with President Trump, his former adversary. By doing so, Graham hopes to achieve his longtime dream of granting amnesty to illegal aliens.
One happy byproduct of the unfortunate S***thole controversy is that, in all likelihood, Grahams friendship with the president is at an end. Its over not because of that controversy, but because of what led to it. Simply stated, Graham tried to bamboozle Trump.
The deal Graham helped write and then took to Trump lurched to the left in every significant particular. For example, it included litigation land mines for the border wall. It retained the Diversity Lottery under a different name. It provided work permits for the parents of the DACA population.
Trump was bound to explode when he learned the particulars of the Graham-Durbin proposal. It is Grahams fault the president exploded (though of course the president, not Graham, is responsible for the inappropriate language, whatever its exact nature, he apparently used).
Today during a hearing, Graham peddled Dick Durbins claim that, during a phone call with the Illinois Senator just two hours before the ill-fated White House meeting, Trump was pleased with the proposal Durbin outlined to him. In his typical preening manner, Graham kept asking what happened during the intervening two hours and vowing to get to the bottom of this.
Heres what happened: Trump concluded, correctly, that Durbin and Graham were playing him.

What a perfect description!!
Lindsey Graham ick
Graham has told us he and the other Amnesty Senators will keep working for amnesty for illegal aliens and their employers until they are removed from office.
We need Senators who side with the citizens and the rule of law.
Any DACA/Amenesty/Path to Citizenship bill is going to be a bad one. It just doesn't matter what's in it. Bureaucrats are statists and leftists. As soon as the bureaucracy get a hold of it, they will blow it up into whatever they want it to be. Presidents come and go, but agencies live forever.
Linda gramnesty has announced that he will join the dims in shutting down the government by voting against the CR over DACA!! This is so great!!
No amnesty. No chain migration. It’s not lawful and it’s not fair to all those who immigrate through proper channels, not to mention those who are here legally and working to make a better life for themselves.
Hell hath no fury....
“What a perfect description!!”
Ain’t it though.
My only question about Miss Linda is: pitcher or catcher?
Given Linda used to dance with the over aggressive Songbird McCain, my guess is catcher.
Either way Graham is one traitorous b@tch.
For the life of me I can’t figure out what the good, conservative folks of South Carolina see in this dip$hit. He’s the absolute epitome of the squishy center-left RINO.
Trump at the podium:
“The US Senate has decided to put the needs of illegal aliens over the needs of US citizens. Corporate donors interests over constituents.”
People continue to underestimate DJT. He must have seen through this little pr*** from the get-go, especially on the subject of amnesty. Tinkerbelle isn’t fooling anyone, only now the mask is off and he will be Arlen Specter, John McCain and Jim Jeffords combined.
And because of our open primary system in SC, which is worse than open borders because the intruders can vote, Flimsey will continue to be reelected as Democrat interlopers vote for the Republican of their choice.
See my post #11.
Looks like Lindsey has found a new BFF in Dirtbin.
Oh, you know Grahamnasty - any port in the storm...;’}
Ah. Got it.
So much for the snowflakes who thought “he’d sign anything they brought to him.”
Ignore what the President says; watch what he does.
I don’t know exactly what to think of Graham, and what motivates him. In this case he likely thought he could smooth his way with Trump to get what he wanted, but Trump has been negotiating things at a high level for a long time and wasn’t going to be manipulated by Graham.
Graham’s background is very interesting. He lost both of his parents within 2 years of each other - with his 13 year old sister being orphaned. He adopted her. I think he probably is driven by what he thinks is right, and may at some level have an emotional connection to those who were brought here illegally by their parents. I understand this, but there are children suffering throughout the world, including those afraid to go to school in Chicago. We can come up with solutions that are humane and fair, without granting blanket amnesty and giving the message that immigrating to America is a right instead of a privilege.
“Heres what happened: Trump concluded, correctly, that Durbin and Graham were playing him.”
Trump: “Dick, is this the same thing we talked about on the phone?”
Lindsey & Dick (in unison): “Oh yes, Mr. President. Please sign here.”
Trump: “Hang on guys, let me give it a quick ‘once-over’.”
Lindsey: “Oh, no need Mr. President. It’s all good...just sign, Sir. We’ll take care of the rest.”
Dick: “Here’s your favorite pen, Sir.”
Trump: “One second boys. Let me see... Whoa, what’s this?”
Dick: “Exactly what we discussed, Mr. President. Let me have your assistant get us some coffee while you sign.”
Trump: “This is NOT what we discussed, guys.”
Lindsey & Dick (in unison): “Oh yes, it is Mr. President. At least in spirit. We may’ve missed some small points, but we can clean that up later. Go ahead and sign it...we’ll get it out to the media that we’ve put this thing to rest and you can move on to important things.”
Trump: “You little weasels. What are you trying to put over on me? Get the hell outta my office before I kick your....”
I remember writing a long fact filled letter to congressman graham who was constantly flitting from side to side on the decision to impeach Bubba Clinton.
My impression was that Lindsey was irrational and weak minded.
It is now obvious the man places his contributors over his constituents.
Surprised Trump hasnt called him Mr 1 %. Mocking his great nsupport for becoming president. Also showing how he only thinks about himself as only 1 % off the population felt his ideas were worthy of leadership at the highest level
