Why are they serving a warrant at 6 effen 30 AM? Catch the bad guys while they're still in bed/hung over/etc.

Why not? They had a valid arrest warrant. This wasn’t a search. A judge had already found probable cause that a crime had been committed. It’s pretty obvious from what happened that they had concerns the suspect might be dangerous. Should they have called the nice bad guy on the phone and asked him pretty please come down to the station?
