Pope: It’s a sin if fear makes us hostile to migrants
AP ^ | jan. 14, 2018 | FRANCES D’EMILIO

Posted on 01/14/2018 7:30:05 AM PST by Leaning Right

Pope Francis has defined hostility and rejection of refugees and migrants as sin, encouraging people to overcome their “fully comprehensible” fears that these new arrivals might “disturb the established order” of local communities.

At his invitation, several thousand migrants, refugees and immigrants from 49 countries joined Francis at Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica on Sunday, a day the Catholic Church dedicated to the issues and contributions of those who leave homelands in hope of a better life.

Francis is so egregiously wrong we should pray for a backlash and resurgence with the next pope similar to Trump and the deep state.

I am still confused on this issue. I was brought up to believe that as part of our culture we welcome the tired, the poor, the huddles masses yearning to be free. Now I think there has to be some screening to make sure freedom and not mayhem is an immigrant’s intention. My dad was a WWII refugee (Belgian) as was my grandmother (Russian.) But it is a tough issue and there are no easy answers.

If the commie anti pope is so concerned perhaps he should divest the church of its wealth and give it to the poor

You raise a good point. Francis did say that migrants should respect the laws and cultures of their host countries.

But he is dangerously putting the cart before the horse. Potential migrants must be carefully vetted before entering their new country. That is what Ellis Island was all about.

But the Pope is not advocating anything like that. He’s saying - and has been saying - that migrants should be let in. Then they should adjust their attitude. That’s backwards.

The first Third World pope continues his primary mission of bashing and guilt tripping the affluent nations, and trying to establish a never ending debt owed by the affluent to the poor. I guess he thinks the entire Third World can “migrate” to the affluent nations and that will solve everything.

It is a sin to use a place of power to lie to the people who trust you, for the purpose of manipulating them.

I agree. Unfortunately, things have changed. In the old days there were plenty of jobs for immigrants to the US, even if they were unskilled. And those immigrants came to America to become Americans, not to transform America.

Today things are different. We are a debtor nation, a welfare state. And we are becoming more Balkanized every day. Now add to that the undeniable fact that many Muslim immigrants are driven solely by their religion. They actively resist assimilation.

So it only makes sense to vet immigrants more carefully.

Yeah, let’s just make up things, call them sins, and cajole a bunch of people to follow his bidding. Sorry, not going to work with me.

Fear of immigration to the point of destruction of the greatest Culture ever to rise in history is no sin. Why don’t you let atheists take over the Church, genius...?

For the first time in my life, I despise the pope. He needs to shut his mouth and focus on Christianity and stay the hell out of politics.

Immigration
Global Warming
Transgenders

How the hell does the Catholic church rid itself of this mental midget?
