A white Cambridge cop was merely doing his job, investigating an actual break-in. Neither the person who reported it nor the cops had any way to know beforehand that the guy breaking into the house was the homeowner, Gates. All Gates needed to do was to be grateful that the police were trying to protect his property, but instead he played the race card.... and then Obozo made it a national/international issue by playing the race card much more loudly.
