How can I, as a Christian commanded to love all people, be expected to approve of a choice of lifestyle that causes so much disease, mental illness, and significantly diminished lifespan?

FWIW, the prohibition against marrying ones cousin was to prevent genetic problems from inevitable sexual activity. Regarding homos, there is really no good reason why that should be prohibited from marrying their brothers or their fathers or sons. There is no possible genetic problem.

Marriage is a legal and societal method of codifying the biological pairing that occurs between males and females for the purpose of producing and protecting children. Homosexual relationships are not about children, but about self-gratification; hence, whatever relationship they have is not one that is capable of marriage.
Legalizing gay “marriage” is as nonsensical and impossible as legalizing faster than light travel. No matter how hard you try, you cannot overcome the physical laws of the universe.

Jesus defined marriage as a lifelong union of one man and one woman. Jesus did not say that marriage is a union between people of the same sex or a union between a man and a woman until someone better comes along. So gay marriage does not meet that definition. Neither does a marriage where one or both partners have been divorced.
