Dittos on India. I have never been, but even if I had the money, I would not want to go because of the disease and poor sanitation.
I follow, on You Tube, a group out of India called Animal Aid Unlimited. I believe it is an American-sponsored group out of Washington state, but they have Indian trained people to treat/help animals, mostly dogs. These animals are in some of the most appalling states one could even think about.
The stories they feature all have happy endings. Some of them are near miraculous. I realize these stories are just the ones they choose to feature, but it’s wonderful to see people being kind to animals, and the animals feeling good after their recoveries.
There are good people there and all over the world, but some of these countries are horrible for people and animals. We are very fortunate to be here in the U.S.

A friend in the tech field had to travel to India, and he described how at night a certain group (maybe the “untouchables”) would come out and clean up all the human feces from the sidewalks.
Absolutely gross; I love history, but will pass on visiting India - I’ll watch the documentaries instead.
