Yes, I am not sure I see the downside to Trump admitting he said what is already on everyone's mind and what most of us have said from time to time in colloquial conversation.

So I presume Trump is telling the truth that, regrettably, he cannot take credit for the words attributed to him and that these folks are lying. Did Kelly find another WH leaker?

Trump just said those weren’t the words used. That can mean anything. He’s just saying they didn’t get the quote 100% correct. I personally don’t care, he happens to make a very valid point.
