what the good sergeant is trying to say is the ISIS can surrender to the Americans and live to face justice, or they can deal with locals who they have spent the last five years beheading, crucifying, burning to death, raping, pressing and generally committing crimes against humanity on.
The man is not a Sergeant, he is a Command Sergeant Major, a senior enlisted man in the United States Army, usually with over 25 years of service.
Only a small percentage of soldiers become Sergeants Major, let alone Command Sergeants Major. Of those few, he was selected to advise the senior uniformed officer, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Please don’t dismiss him as a “sergeant.”
