The federal probe into a 2010 land deal orchestrated by former Burlington College president Jane Sanders, wife of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., has deepened. VTDigger has confirmed that a grand jury has been empaneled and has taken sworn testimony in the case.
Former Burlington College board member Robin Lloyd says she testified for about an hour on Oct. 26 before a grand jury at the federal courthouse in Burlington.
Lloyds appearance is the first public confirmation that the federal government has empaneled a grand jury, whose principal function is to decide whether to issue a criminal indictment.

Bank Fraud Bernie isn’t going to like that.
Lock her up too!
Jane Sanders is looking really bad in this column, disingenuous at best and fraudulent at worst.
To misrepresent the donors measure of commitment and to attribute to them fictitious amounts of pledged, in the absence of even signatures in some cases is choosing trouble.
Worse is the writer daring to conjecture about the Sanders new home purchases occurring simultaneously with this hanky panky by Janey fabricating numbers with no provable facts to back herself up.
October 26? Grand Juries usually work faster than that.
I was surprised nothing was leaked for over two months. Hopefully they get cranked up and put this process on a fast track.
So fine...
Thanks, Rab.
Based on what I’ve read of the real estate deal and the ‘big’ strategy to bring in cash-flow to marginal college...I think Jane Sanders was way outside of her league and capabilities.
Her educational path lead through one of the free-thinker colleges that exist, and you’d have to assess her abilities as a good bit less than most folks.
She might want to prepare herself....if she’s lucky, she’ll just get enough charges and convictions to get probation. But she’s finished professionally...no one is ever going to hire her again.
Mrs. Sanders is 68 years old. It’s no like a future career would be ruined.
Not included in this article is the following info:
‘According to publicly available tax documents, the Vermont Woodworking School received more than $500,000 between 2009 and 2012 for materials charges and lease of bench space for Burlington College students who took furniture-making and woodworking design courses in a restored red barn in Fairfax.’
Who ran the ‘woodworking school’? Carina Driscoll - the daughter of Jane Sanders. Carina is also the Progressive Party’s newest pet, running for mayor of Burlington. Proof that these creeps have no shame and their supporters were shortchanged in the critical thinking department.
The other progressive candidate running for mayor is even more shocking - Infinite Culcleasure (the former felon).
A moral compass doesnt even require any formal education. Jane is in trouble to my surprise, given that these Blue states are full of subversives top to bottom. Surprised they care. Surprised they would come after a Leftist.
Thanks for your reply.
Astounding! Is this a small town RICO violation coming? Keep us posted if you can.
“Surprised they would come after a Leftist.”
Don’t be. She didn’t cut them in for a piece of the pie. A mistake like that usually gets a person knocked off when dealing with Organized crime outfits like Mafia, Yakuza, MS-13 and the DNC. She’s lucky she didn’t snub the Clintons because she would have already been found dead from suicide by jumping off a bridge after stabbing herself in the back 10 times.
Bernie Sanders was caught stealing his neighbor’s Washington Post off his doorstep last year. The neighbor is a friend of Chris Plante and said he reported the thefts to the carrier, so they staked it out only to find that the bald, crumpled socialist was the one “redistributing” his paper.
She’ll skate because they are DEMOCRATS!
Soooo...Jane funneled $500,000.00 to her DAUGHTERS Company??? WOWIE!!
The possible offense was in 2010? What is the Statute of limitations on it?
They must have a big rug and Bernie has a lot of sweepers.
Bernie is so full of $hit.
THAT makes sense. You are very insightful! Thank you for your incisive replies! Ill be watching for this story to progress.
