"Weather refers to the conditions in the atmosphere over a short period of time, whereas climate refers to trends in atmospheric patterns over a much longer timescale," said Dr. John Fleming, a climate scientist with the Center for Biological Diversity.

OK. But they say the Earth has been around for 4.5 billion years. If they base conclusions on just a few decades of measurements then it seems they too are referring to short term conditions relative to the Earth's history.

The bottom line is the climate does change and man will have to adapt to it.
