It is a shame that there is such ignorance that thinks the hemp to grow pot is the same hemp used to make rope. There is very little of the narcotic THC in the industrial hemp used for rope.

Hemp, in particular hemp from northern latitudes (like Siberia) has been successfully interbred with real pot in order to adopt desirable traits from the hemp.

Specifically, the autoflowering function.

A few years ago there was no such thing as autoflowering pot. Now there is. That trait came from hemp and ruderalis interbreeding. Ruderalis was a little-known pot subspecies that evolved in high latitudes, and flowers not according to the seasons, but automatically.

They readily breed with each other.
