I've criticized Trump when he deserves to be criticized, such as his willingness to compromise on allowing "Dreamer" invaders to stay in the US and his nepotistic appointment of his liberal daughter and son-in-law as senior advisors. However, in spite of such flaws, President Trump remains far preferable not only to the Democrats but to Bush-style establishment Republicans.
Ordinarily, people can trash the POTUS and his family. We trashed Obama daily.
I have no objection to Bannon or anyone else criticizing Trump when he backtracks on campaign promises or when he takes the political side of the GOP establishment (or liberal family members) against the constituency who got him elected. However, using the same talking points as the liberal media (on Russia collusion) isn't the right way to go about it.
Does anyone think this stuff doesn’t happen in every administration?
The difference is, with Trump, the press is eager to jump on any little thing to try to paint him in a bad light.
It does, and therefore no President or elected official should be above criticism. However, I agree that it's important to differentiate legitimate criticism of Trump from the Right (e.g. taking him to task when he softens his stance on illegal immigrants) from the talking points that liberals use against him. If Bannon had stuck to the former rather than engaging in the latter, I'd have no objection.
“give rise to numerous legal claims including defamation by libel and slander...”
Good luck with that, Trump is a public figure, that would never stick.
Sounds like a leftists wet dream, nothing more.
Steve Bannon has said he supports the President and the MAGA agenda 110%. I have no reason to believe otherwise.
He has been very open about not supporting Jared and Ivanka. I actually believe this “feud” can be traced back to them.
Harder is a well-known entertainment lawyer who previously represented Hulk Hogan in his case against Gawker Media, which Hogan won and ultimately led to Gawker filing for bankruptcy.
He also represented First Lady Melania Trump in her defamation lawsuit against the Daily Mail, which was settled last year.
BREAKING Attorneys for President Trump send Steve Bannon a cease and desist letter citing the non disclosure agreement he signed during the campaign https://t.co/jDybwQenJ2

In the letter to Bannon, Trumps attorney says that remedies for your breach of the agreement include but are not limited to monetary damages though no dollar amount is disclosed. https://t.co/jDybwQenJ2

Bannon was promoting the MAGA agenda long before Trump was, and it's no exaggeration to say that Bannon is one of the main reasons that Trump is who he is today politically as opposed to the quasi-liberal Trump of 15 years ago. And Bannon is absolutely right in disliking and distrusting Javanka, I thought they were liberal poison from the get-go too.
That doesn't mean that Bannon should be going around repeating Hillary Clinton and MSNBC's talking points about "treasonous collusion with Russia."
Bannon has many symptoms of alcoholism.
I’m just curious . The Wolfe book receives a cease and desist letter for being lies ,slander and defamation but what the Wolfe book says about his interview with Bannon is not a lie?
That seems a direct contradiction. I firmly believe the Wolfe hit piece is 100% lies. I cant wait for that law suit!!
In the introduction of the book, the author writes: “Many of the accounts of what has happened in the Trump White House are in conflict with one another, many, in Trump fashion, are badly untrue. I have settled on a version of events I believe to be true.” File it in the fiction aisle.
He discredits the truth and veracity of his own opinions. What pack of lies. I think everything he writes is a lie including Steve Bannon who was highly instrumental in the election of our great president. Too many have rushed to conclusions with the lies in this book discredited by its author?
I totally love this!! I just hope this is not just another blow of hot air and that a Law suit will follow with a properly selected judge on our side!! But why believe Wolfe on what he writes about Bannon? Seems to be oxymoronish. Actually completely inconsistent .
The costs to Wolfe, Bannon, NY Mag, the publisher, will be astronomical.
Trump’s lawyer bankrupted “Gawker” when he won for Hulk Hogan.
This all sounds exactly like the type of garbage that I remember a-hole grade schoolers making up about some unfortunate kid they decide to socially ostracize.
Nobody could be as petty, selfish, shallow and unhappy a person as they are making Trump seem with these BS anecdotes.
If you think there is any truth to this hit piece, ask yourself this: even if Wolff had proof that Trump was as horrible a human being as he is depicting him, why would he publish such a book, unless he hoped to influence public opinion against Trump?
The answer is that he wouldn’t - which demonstrates that is clearly his goal - to smear Trump and damage his public image. Once you accept that is his aim, then you realize he is nothing but a Trump hater whose vision is blinded by that hate, and whose sense of honesty and decency has been compromised by it.
The only other question is why people here on FR would tolerate this garbage much less repeat it ad nauseum.
Again, Free Republic, instead if offering an alternative to MSM, winds up carrying water for the Trump hating MSM.
