The Punisher star Jon Bernthal has spoken out about the connection between the gun-toting Marvel character the current debate on gun violence in the United States, telling Esquire that he is for gun-rights - and owns one himself - but he believes there are unresolved issues in the United States' gun laws.
Im a gun owner. I have a gun in my house to keep my family safe. Im trained in that guns use. I know how to keep it away from my kids, and I know how to use it if I need to," Bernthal explained. Should there be a way that a guy with mental issues like the asshole in Texas cant get guns? Absolutely. We have to have a dialogue, and thats not happening."
The Punisher character - and logo - have been adopted by many within the military community as a symbol of their efforts, and when asked about that Bernthal is thankful.
I feel honored to play a guy who people putting their life on the line identify with, said the actor.
But how does he view some white nationalists who have co-opted the Punisher's logo, as witnessed during the 2017 Charlottesville rallies?
"F*** them."
Bernthal is currently filming Universal's First Man, and is scheduled to reprise his role as Frank Castle in a second season of The Punisher on Netflix.
I agree. Every last stinking one of them is a gross violation of the Constitution and must be repealed or overturned.
All.
Of.
Them.
How 'bout that Mr. Punisher star Jon Bernthal the gun owner?
Part of the reason for these mass shootings ate that these assholes try to one up themselves.
They see the 24/7 coverage on TV, newspapers, etc and think that they can “do it better” than the other asshole and by doing so they’ll be more famous.
Jon studied in Russia, btw.
Anyone who should not be armed should not be running around loose.
A friend’s Ranger unit was using it in Mosul in 2006.
That is the exact problem that I was describing. You hit every single one of my talking points. Well done and thanks!
no dialog. one side just whittles away at self defense rights any way they can. socialists cannot have armed people that can defend themselves.
But on the other hand, the Ruger silverhawk is sitting pretty now :)
It’s brought up the prices on all of the heavy framed revolvers which is great news for those of us who have always known.
But, alas, the Python was never in my collection. My friend had one that he sold for a song and dance just a bit before the show came out. Talk about kicking yourself in the pants.
He got like $500 for it or something offensive. One thing I’ve learned, is that you only sell a rifle when it offends the senses and you NEVER sell a revolver.
Wow. I've seen them in very moderate condition going for (and getting) $2500.
