Doug Jones is a completely unprincipled opportunist. If you think Strange would have beaten him, you’re delusional. Jones would have pounded Big Luther on the seemingly corrupt circumstances of his appointment, and he would have had the complicity of the fake news media in making Bentley’s corruption into Strange’s.
Teh best choice would have been rep. Brooks. It was McConnell, not Bannon, who sponsored the smear campaign to knock out Brooks (maybe because Brooks sponsored the one-sentence Obamacare repeal that McConnelll never supported.)
And Trump is now siding with McConnell, who did as much to lose that seat as anyone, over his own supporters.

McConnell does what the shadow gov and the eGOP will profit from.
