Moore lost because he was a terrible candidate and Bannon was backing him to get the nomination - he was the only candidate who would have had any chance of losing and he did. He was the worst candidate to nominate as far as electability. A Republican losing a race in Alabama is no small accomplishment. President Trump is not delusional about this - he is absolutely spot on. Moore, like Bannon, was all about himself and vanity politics - not any particular good agenda.
“Exit polls showed he has a 47% favorable rating in the state and I believe it.” It was probably was correct for that electorate. 90% of the Democrats who had voted in 2016 showed up and only 50% of the Republicans showed up - they were not inspired by a candidate like Roy Moore to show up and vote. The fact Trump would have a 47% favorable rating among the electorate sounds about right - it was heavily Democrat. Again, no small accomplishment for Bannon and Moore - to get an electorate in Alabama that is mostly leftist to show up the polls and the Republicans uninspired and staying home the point the much smaller pool of Dem voters could overtake them.
Moore stomped Mo Brooks and Luther Strange in the primaries, The people of the State of Alabama knew all three men and overwhelmingly supported Moore. They wanted him as their next US Senator. McConnell and his gang of RINOs dont get to pick who in the hell they want to represent Alabama in the senate. But McConnell made it perfectly clear he woukd rather have a democrat in the senate than someone he couldnt boss around. And if Moore had won Trump would still be shouting it was because of his endorsement. But he lost so now he says I told you he couldnt win. Moore had no help from the GOP. They sat on their thumbs and allowed a democrat to go to tbe senate from Alabama. To hell with all of them.
