Yikes!

I looked up a Burger King chocolate shake, whose sugar content is even scarier. These days, those total about 1/2 of a shake (I share w/ family) about once a month, but, not so far back, I used to buy 2x the size ultra-rich shakes at a specialty ice cream shop, and probably consumed 4-5 BK shakes & 10 Whoppers a month, while traveling. How am I 25 lbs. overweight and not 125 lbs. overweight, I do not know...?

no kidding. but even worse is the threat of diabetes and Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) - fatty liver disease.

liver scans were showing me headed in that direction, so i finally cleaned up my diet: no sugars, no grains, no fruits, no starchy root vegetables, etc. Once I’ve lost 20 more pounds (slow going), I’ll add back some beans for carbs, and maybe some brown rice, though eating brown rice is like eating candy for me.

btw, turns out metabolism of fructose (1/2 of table sugar and more than 1/2 of high fructose corn syrup) is identical to the metabolism of ethanol, so no wonder excess fructose induces liver dysfunction:
