This became news fodder, b/c Abedin previously had not disclosed her unusual employment status.

Abedin had publicly said she stepped back from government work and became a “contractor” so she could be with her family and her newborn son, Zain.

Critics have questioned whether she had a conflict of interest while working as a US govt employee at State Dept and at Teneo-—said to be the pricey “toll booth” to get access to the Clintons.
