Like the Palestinian issue, for any President putting his reputation and influence on the line, this is a problem with little upside and a lot of downside due to intractable historical problems and constant failure and violence.

Re: Northern Ireland in particular, US politicians like the Kennedy’s used to get involved to pander to Irish American voters, but that phenemenon has passed away.

I don’t know why Trump would now want to ever get involved.

This is not like the “Palestinian” issue. The two people in Ireland are in fact of the same descent.

Thanks to the EU, the notion of Irish “independence” is a dead duck. It’s merely a choice now for Northern Ireland whether to stay British or be swallowed up by the German-led bloc.

Big Media rushing to line up the Dream Team of foreign “leaders” who will refuse to work “with” the United States because we elected a Republican.

Earlier generations would say that indeed, the Israelis and Palestinians are certainly of the same descent, and are both “semites.”

Regardless, what makes the situations similar is the great historical burden and the general intractability of the problem, in spite of what any American President feels he can bring to the table.

That is NOT what “The Art of the Deal” was about...

It is more about a deal where both sides win.

This makes everyone happy and successful.

NOT about screwing the other guy— that does not make for good business.

Like a rehash of the inaugural entertainment nonsense from last January - the various acts and assorted nobodies who were proclaiming how they were refusing to perform - even though they weren't asked or even being considered.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar will not be seeking the assistance of US president Donald Trump to help end the ongoing political stalemate in Northern Ireland.

Oh.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar sounds more Russian than Irish!

I agree. The yokel has a very low reading comprehension IF he even read Trump’s book.

What do you consider of the same descent?

Most of the Protestant Ulsterman were originally from Northern England and Scotland. They arrived in the 17th century with land grants from England, in an effort to de-Catholicize Northern Ireland. Native Catholics were ghettoized and prevented from obtaining meaningful work.

I am no defender of the IRA, but the British created the situation that spawned them. It is hard to put the genie back in the box now.

No, the British did not create the IRA. The IRA are revolutionary Marxists. Before the IRA started agitating for outright independence, the vast majority of Irish were seeking home rule.

Figures that Varadkar lies about the content of the book. He’s lied about so much already. Now after his push for homosexual “marriage”, he is now poised to pull the same trick with abortion.

There are lots of descendants of Shem that are Gentiles. The Assyrians are one of the most notorious among them. Notwithstanding, the word “antisemite” does not mean one who is against all descendants of Shem. No similarity to Ireland.

There is no “historical burden” with respect to the “Palestinians”, who are liars. The burden there comes from supporting the lie.

In addition, Arabs claim direct descent from Ishmael, who was half-Semite (his father, Abraham) and half-Hamite (his mother, Hagar, an Egyptian). Jews’ line of descent is all from Shem.
