when she mentioned when was my last colostomy I replied, Never had one. I have no intention of ever unless I feel necessary. I had a friend who died soon after one.

I hope you meant colonoscopy, not colostomy. You would know if and when you had a colostomy. You can't die from a colonoscopy unless there is surgery involved (such as for polyp removal), the surgery is botched (such as a bowel puncture) or a cancer is missed—which in the latter case the cancer and/or a missed diagnosis is the cause of death, not the colonoscopy. A colonoscopy is just imaging to see what's what in there, and unless the doc punctures your bowel, an extremely rare occurence, it's not something you can die from.

Everybody over 40 who eats meat or charcoal grilled or fried foods should definitely have a colonoscopy every decade or so.

colonoscopy

Thanks for the correction and yes she died soon after it. My friend isn't the only one I'm hearing about. Doctors are apparently making mistakes. And yes, my friend was having problems before the scope and I personally feel the procedure lead up to her death. A couple weeks after the procedure she was rushed to Indy for an operation for a blockage the doctor said. Then a week later she developed pancreatitis and died. 52 years old.

Yes, there were many factors involved I understand.
