A gunman shot and killed a deputy, and wounded four other deputies and two civilians at an apartment complex during a domestic violence call early Sunday morning, the Douglas County Sheriffs Office said.
About 5:15 a.m., deputies responded the Copper Canyon Apartments complex at 3404 E. County Line Road in Highlands Ranch, between Colorado and University boulevards.
A gunman opened fire, hitting five deputies and two civilians. One deputy was confirmed dead and the six others were taken to hospitals, the sheriffs office said.
The gunman was shot, is believed to be dead and is no longer a threat, the sheriffs office said.

Yes. It is a shame that the Denver Post will not even let us post a link only. But yes, it is a well done article. And is a local issue and they actually still have writers who can gather information and put it in print.
I am cautious about blaming all writers for a particular publication, there are good ones in almost all organizations. Unfortunately often the good ones that are accurate, are often filtered out by the paid agenda of the owners and management of the publication.

He said he was going to run on the Libertarian ticket for sheriff, the Libertarians said they have no record of him even being connected in the slightest with their party and there is no record of him attempting to file for any office.

It could also be heavy Pot use. Colorado has made “reefer madness” much more common.
