A group of Mormon cult leaders is being charged with organizing sexual religious rituals with underage girls and threatening them with damnation if they did not participate, according to court documents filed in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Wednesday.

I know not all Mormons practice such things, but so relieved Mitt Romney never became president is all I have to say...did not want to see the cult legitimized before the world.
But they didn’t have any alcoholic drinks or coffee!!!
“... Said God”
Oh! I was wondering how the newspaper reporters got that! They found a prophet?
I don’t know, maybe it would have forced the LDS to apologize for Mitt half the time. Well, until their new prophets caught up and changed the unchangeable rules yet another time.
The article is really sickening to read.
If the article is accurate, how could anyone even do this? Even more bizarre, in the name of religion!!!
Years ago I toured the “Torture Museum” in Prague. I was amazed that much of the torture was to women in a manner that destroyed their sexual organs, usually causing death. Often for violating Christian church rules. Go figure...
Thankfully, a few bad apples do not mean that the entire barrel is rotten. However, if they are not removed, the entire barrel will be rotten.
Well duh. It’s the reason the cult was invented.
In Prague, this is the kind of spiritual and moral squalor that results when a religion’s church and a government mix as one and the same. I wish we could go back in a time machine and tell the early church not to take Caesar’s sucker bait like that. No matter how bad you got persecuted on earth. Because he’ll soon be telling you how to mediate your religious affairs and you will be mostly walking dead souls.
Mormon faith used to have stronger government aspirations than it does now. I don’t think this is the mainline LDS, however, but some offshoot sect.
“Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS), an offshoot of the Mormon Church”
Not the Morman Church. Headline is untrue
Mormon, Mormon, the Mormon Rap!
Where DID these dear FLDS souls come from then?
I think you're correct. I'm not Mormon, in fact I'm from an anti-Mormon family, but I do attend some Mormon services with a family member. This is in Michigan, far from Utah, so things may be tempered, but I see no evidence of abuse like this article describes.
For Newsweek to title this Mormon... /ii> is, as they well know, purposefully misleading. Warren Jeffs has been known for many years to be a miscreant. He is not and to the best of my knowledge has not ever been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is a convicted felon serving Life plus 20 years after being sentenced by the State of Utah. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_Jeffs
You meant catholic church rules. You have to remember that there was a reason Christians fled to the new world.
I’m not surprised by this article though, you’re either for God or against him. There is no fence sitting. Even though some cults seem to have some good things, they are still of Satan and not of God.
That’s obviously a matter of perspective.
Mormon isn’t what most Christian followings would call small-o orthodox Christian.
What ARE they then? A buddy of mine asked me about it — are they Christian? I gave it the best spiritual thought I could and I said they were bad confused. And I’ve heard of demonic manifestations among them. As is possible for all movements based around the bible, individual revelations of the Lord through the bible can result in individual salvations. These people still will be in a worse way on earth, the further their community practice standards and doctrines are from a Christian ideal that no church ever hits a bulls eye on all the time. I’m sure that the apostle Paul wouldn’t have minced words about how LDS is no way at all to run a church.
Joseph Smith asked the wrong question when he asked “which is ‘the’ right denomination.” That assumes there has to BE one. No wonder, with a faulty premise, the answer looks way more like it came from the devil, than from God. A wiser answer to his question might have been that “we find the church of God present in many denominations.” This is the set of all saved believers. However the process of their salvations came to pass. Even if it was reading the bible while physically in a Mormon congregation.
Newsweek feels safe saying what ever they want because if it were the muslim religion they would be calling for their heads
That is right. Such sexual assaults against children are common in the muslim faith, but Newsweek will never touch such stories.
It is more important to create moral equivalency between Christian religions and Islam than to expose the utter evil perpetrated by so many muslims in the name of their God.
Unsure of what perspective you’re pressing, but it’s not possible for any earthly person to be “all for” God. That would mean sinlessness.
It’s possible for an earthly person to have God “all for” him. Yep this is a Calvinist view, which if push comes to shove I talk. God seems to look that way towards my life, which is both humbling and fear-inspiring. If I go too far, I get my chain yanked from heaven. Sometimes sharply.
The Allah of Islam is just a plain mean god. Of all the antichrists we know, the Allah of Islam is about the anti-est of them that we know “in the wild.” To get worse, one just about has to go the route of a power-gluttonous Hitler and, frustrated with any religion “in the wild,” syncretizes one of his own. A super party for Satan.
They were referring to themselves, doncha’ know?
