While we’re at it, can we end dual citizenship

When did dual citizenship even become legal? When you become a naturalized citizen you swear to give up alliegance to any other country.

People born here take no oath——and some become dual citizens.

Dual citizenship was ruled on by the Supreme Court in Kawakita v. US (1952) and Schneider v. Rusk (1964).

And while the oath does ask you to give up allegiances, it has never been interpreted or enforced to mean renunciation of citizenship.
